Luke Roper had experimented with design and construction of garments from an early age. He graduated with a design degree after earning a reputation for his edgy yet quirky designs. He began working within the fashion industry with plans to create his own label armed with deeper understanding of the industry.

Within six months, in May 2001, the Luke 1977 label was formed, with collaboration of his lifelong friends. The brand has firmly established itself within the fashion industry, recognised for its edgy, detailed and ultimately practical interpretation on contemporary menswear. Taking inspiration from all the people that surround him, Luke's range has all the components of the modern generation, a gentlemen, a working class hero and a bit of a rogue. The collections are always created for every social need equally, be it at home, in the city bar scene, on the terraces or in the pub. The United Kingdom of Luke’s creativity comes from meticulous attention to detail.
